Melissa and Mark's late August White Poplar wedding in Manitoba was one of those days that had everything working in its favour, gorgeous evening light, a stunning outdoor setting, and a couple who were completely at ease with each other from the moment the day began.

Melissa and Mark's late August wedding at the White Poplar was one of those days that had everything working in its favour, gorgeous evening light, a stunning outdoor setting, and a couple who were completely at ease with each other from the moment the day began.

The White Poplar is a beautiful venue just outside of Winnipeg. Its minimal, open air aesthetic gives couples an incredible canvas to work with, and Melissa used every bit of it. She wanted black tie elegance, neutrals, white florals, no bright colours competing for attention. The result was a day that felt genuinely luxurious without ever feeling overdone.

Getting ready happened on two floors of the venue, the ladies downstairs, the guys upstairs, and their first look was saved for the aisle. That moment, Melissa walking toward Mark with every guest turned to watch her, is one I won't forget quickly.

The ceremony overlooked the pond on the property, and when it was over, Melissa and Mark made their exit back down the aisle together. Instead of the trendy dip kiss, Mark stepped to the side and kissed her hand. It was quiet and deliberate and completely them.

After family and wedding party portraits, the evening really opened up. The sun was low and casting long shadows across the grounds, the kind of light that makes everything feel a little cinematic.

Their grand entrance kicked off the reception with their first dance, and the speeches that followed were full of genuine emotion. We slipped out mid-speeches for their sunset session, and finished the night with parent dances, an open bar, an ice cream machine, and nightcap photos by the venue's large LOVE sign.
