Part 2 – Night Lights and Laughter: Deep + Gurpreet’s Jaggo Celebrations
The Jaggo, a beloved pre-wedding tradition in Sikh culture, is a night of revelry, light, and togetherness. Translating to "wake up," this event was historically a way to energize the village before a wedding. Today, it’s a high-energy celebration filled with music, dancing, and the spirit of community—and Deep and Gurpreet’s Jaggo nights were no exception!
Gurpreet’s Jaggo took place indoors and was a cozy yet lively event. There were performances, good food, and plenty of dancing. The best part? Deep’s cousins decided to crash the party for some playful fun, adding even more laughter and excitement to the night.
The next night, Deep’s Jaggo took to the streets of Winnipeg. Hundreds of friends and family walked together around the block and it was a scene of pure joy, with people singing and dancing through the streets. After the walk, we went back to the tent to continue the celebrations, and of course Gurpreet and his cousins showed up to crash the party—keeping the fun going until the very end.
Both of these Jaggo celebrations were full of love, laughter, and vibrant energy. It wasn’t just about honoring tradition; it was about bringing everyone together to create memories they’ll never forget.
